Coming Back Home (Closed to Peter)

His talk with Kitty and some more time alone caused Alec to return to the Inn. He smelled, but he was used to that, however he did miss showers. Despite the ability to live off the land for at least a month, there were some comforts that Alec missed. Plus he figured he needed to find out how badly he left things with Peter.

He was ready to be told to move out - however he could manage that, anyways.

Alec pushed through the door noticed the note on Peter's bed immediately. The kid wanted to talk - shocker. He dropped his pack and went to hit the shower.

"You could join the Avengers?" Peter offers. He's not really sure if it's a paying gig, but he thinks it has to be. It's not like Thor and Hulk and Captain America had time to do anything else.

Alec blinked. "... Do you really think I'm superhero material?" Said as if, of course he didn't, what a silly idea.

Peter nods sagely. "You could be, yeah."

[st_x5_494]

Somehow Alec felt like maybe Peter was being a bit too optimistic. "I don't think I'd fit in. I don't even have a name."

Okay, so he had his boxing name, but that was different.

"Thor's called Thor," Peter offers helpfully.

He crossed his arms. "And I don't have a costume."

[st_arkintern]

"Hulk doesn't have a costume," Peter retorts.

[st_x5_494]

Alec was at a disadvantage for not really know most of the Avengers except for Peter's video and the terribly dorky impressions he sometimes did in the bathroom. His eyes narrowed a little. "Also, I don't generally like people."

"Hulk doesn't like people, either. Hulk smash."

Peter says this all very seriously and with a straight face.

"See, there you go. I wouldn't want to make the Hulk feel like he's being replaced, would I? I mean, the guy has feelings, right?" Alec tried a different approach.

"The Hulk's way stronger than you," Peter says. "You're not going to be able to replace him."

Dammit.

"I don't have any special powers. Plus I'm not exactly marketable as save-the-day material."

[st_arkintern]

"You do have special powers," Peter insists. "Super-senses. Super-fighting. Super-snarking."

He's pretty sure he could get Alec to quip with him if the two of them ever got into combat together.

"All we need to do to market you is take a few photos of you holding an American flag," he says. "So that problem's solved, too."

"Okay, see, and there's the problem." Alec did enjoy learning he had super-snark though. He was pretty proud of his attitude in that sense.

"I don't really like America. The people higher up pretty much suck the biggest balls ever."

"There's no Canadian superhero," Peter says. "You have any objections to a Canadian flag?"

It probably wouldn't have the same affect as an American flag, but it would probably work. No one hated Canada. Maybe they could photograph him with the flag in front of a Tim Hortons for maximum impact.

Alec paused and looked a little confused. "So, what? I get a whole country to defend?"

[st_arkintern]

"No, you have to defend Earth too," Peter explains. "I defend Queens, but if there's a bad guy who's threatening the planet, I have to fight them too, because Queens is part of Earth."

"Wait. So I have to care about what happens to people in like, Serbia?" Alec made a face. "That's a lot of people I don't know to stick my neck out for." Just less than a year ago he barely stuck his neck out for anyone.

"The people in Serbia especially," Peter says. "They're probably never gonna get their own superhero."

Peter was just so stubborn. Somewhere back home, Max was laughing her ass off and probably saying something like 'serves you right'.

"I'd be really bad PR. I drink and sleep with lots of women." He paused, then added. "I like to steal shit too."

"Mr. Stark likes to drink and sleep with women," Peter points out. He may or may not have read Tony Stark's unofficial biography. Was there an Avenger who stole stuff?

Peter stops to think, trying to dredge up some memory from the superhero chan that he used to visit before things got weird and they started posting pictures of him. He knows Quill stole the orb, but it's probably not a good idea to bring it up now.

Then it comes to him in a flash of brilliance. Peter directs a single finger at Alec, as if he has just suddenly caught him in the act.

"I stole Captain America's shield," he says, excitedly.

Alec gave Peter a look. It was similar to 'the look' that Peter gave him a lot of the time.

"Why do you want me to be apart of the Avengers so badly?"

"Why wouldn't I want you to be part of the Avengers?"

Was this all teenagers or just Peter Parker? Alec thought about the other kids at the Inn. Mostly just Peter Parker.

"Because I'd probably embarrass you when I start calling your friends out on their dumb shit?"

Peter pretends to think about this for a second.

"Mmm... no."
